Darius was born in Birmingham, Alabama. His family relocated to Detroit, Michigan in 1966. He graduated from Southwestern High School in 1979. He completed classes in Computer Technology and was employed by Electronic Data Systems (EDS) – formerly a subsidiary of General Motors.
Darius went on to get a degree in Divinity and was an Associate Pastor at Word of Faith in Southfield. In February of 2021, he retired from AAA of Michigan after several years of service. Darius will be missed immensely by family, friends, and co-workers.
He leaves to cherish his memory of his loving and devoted wife Anita. Children: Aaron, Alexis, Asya, Darius II, Jayla, Lauren, Danielle, and Delanyo. Sisters: Lillie Washington (Tyrone), Frances Boines (Fredrick), Deborah Phillips, and Hadanah Salaam. Grandchildren: Damiya, Isabella, Denise, Kellan, Daveah, Jenelle, Soleil, Sienna, Daniel, Alysha, and Armani. In addition to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents Lorene & Clemmie Smith, a sister Barbara, a brother Jimmie and a daughter Janae.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 1pm until 6pm at Brown Funeral Home - 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan. Virtual funeral service may be viewed at www.brownfh.com on Friday, April 23, 2021.
