

LUMLEY, Dennis, of Grand Blanc & Swartz Creek, age 89, passed away at his residence on Friday, November 11, 2011 with his family surrounding him. He was born in New Castle, England and moved to Michigan as a young child and resided in the Flint area the majority of his life. He graduated from Flint Central High School and took engineering classes from GMI. He served in the U.S. Navy Aviation Corps during World War II. He worked and retired from AC Spark Plug after 47 years as an Engineer. His greatest accomplishment was his family whom he was very proud of and enjoyed spending time with. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always one to pull a prank or tell a joke. He also was an avid golfer and City Champion tennis player. His church family was important to him as well, and he was very involved in the St. Joseph’s Guild and the 55 & Over Senior Group at Holy Family Catholic Church. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bernice and her son Robert (Sandy) Yaklin, son, Dennis, and daughter, Linda. Also survived by his grandchildren Christopher, Courtney, Hannah, Makenna, Isabella, and Kaylen, great grandchildren Cooper & Tyler, and special grand-dog “Chopper”. He was preceded in death by his wife Eunice in 1988, wife Phyllis in 2003, and his daughter in law, Shelby, in June of 2011. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday, November 18, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church,11804 S. Saginaw St, Grand Blanc, MI. Mr. Lumley will lie in state at the church Friday at 10 a.m. The family will also receive friends Thursday, from 12-3p.m. and 5-8 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc. Rosary service will be held at the funeral home Thursday at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holy Family Catholic Church-Building Fund.
