Dennis Ross Stone

Dennis passed away September 20, 2021, in hospice care after a brief hospital stay.

Dennis was born April 27, 1958, in Flint and grew up in Burton. He graduated from Bentley High School in 1976.

After his mother’s death in 1989, Dennis moved to an AFC home in Flint. He was well liked by fellow residents at the several AFC homes in which he lived over the preceding 30+ years. Dennis was a unique man with an abundant knowledge of classic TV shows, movies, and such. He was an avid user of MTA Flint buses; the routes allowed him to move around the greater Flint area. Dennis participated in programs such as Special Olympics, Freedom Works of Genesee County, the Rainbow Connection Clubhouse, and several others.

Dennis is survived by his sister and brother in law, Lee Anne and Frank J. Horvath, Sr. of Rosemount, MN; nephew and his wife, Frank J. Jr. and Kelly A. Horvath and their son, a great-nephew, Henry, all of Shoreview, MN. Dennis is also survived by his Aunt Carolyn and Uncle David Gilliam of Tehachapi, CA and several cousins. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Leland and Mildred (Snider) Stone, brother Robert Stone, and infant brother William Stone.

The family is grateful to the dedicated staff of Genesee Health Systems, and to the many AFC Home providers, together they make it possible for individuals such as Dennis to live a more meaningful life within the community.

Thanks to Mary Marcot of the Family Services Agency of Mid-Michigan, as she provided Dennis with the guardianship and care he needed.

Special thanks to Anna Paige for her genuine interest, and love, for her home clients. Dennis seemed to “connect” with her, especially when he elicited a hearty laugh from Anna for his hijinks and quips.

Memorial visitation from 10:00am until time of memorial service at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 will be held at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 Hill Rd, Grand Blanc.. Private inurnment at Flint Memorial Park at a later time.
