

Edward served in the United States Army for two years before being honorably discharged in 1951. In 1953, Edward moved to Flint, Michigan and began working as a Skills Tradesman at the Metal Fab. He did this for 46 years. Edward enjoyed fishing, playing the lottery, and photography. For 15 years, Edward was even a Special Deputy for Genesee County and a security guard for the Saints of God Church in Flint.
Edward leaves to cherish his memory, his wife and partner of 29 years, Theresa Bean; children: Beverly Tawfeeqah Malik, Edward Houston Bean Jr., Andre Karim, Alfreda Bean, VonSarah Bean-Jefferson, Benjamin Bean Sr., Regina Bean-Cain, Deidre Bean-Rearick, and Ebenezer Bean Sr.; step-children: Lashon (Andre) Greene, Edward Rimmer, and Melissa (and husband) Allen; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Mary Bean; and brothers, Taft (Gwen) Bean and Steve Bean.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents: Alexander and Adell Bean; step-son, Terry Rimmer; sister, Nettie Samuel; and brothers: Elmer Bean, George Bean, and Joe Felton Bean.
A visitation for Edward will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E Hill Rd, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439. A funeral service will occur Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 11:30 AM, 1480 E Hill Rd, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439. An interment with military honors will occur at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd, Holly, Michigan 48442.
