

PARKINSON, Elaine M., formerly of Flint and Holiday, Florida, died May 17, 2011 in Glendale, California at the age of 89. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc. Interment to follow at Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 2 pm to 8 pm. Elaine was born on November 22, 1921 in Kawkawlin, Michigan, daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (Peltier) Delong. She married Lesten “Jack” Parkinson in 1942 and moved to Flint where they resided for many years. Elaine had retired from AC Sparkplug following 28 years of service and moved to Holiday, Florida in 1981 with Jack. In 2004 she moved to Glendale, California to be near her daughter and family. Elaine and was an avid bowler, winning awards both personally and in her league. Baking, knitting, and crocheting were also a few of Elaine’s Hobbies. In addition to providing sweaters mittens, and afghan’s for her family, she made lap blankets for disabled American Veterans and made countless hats for newborn babies at the Glendale Adventist Hospital. Elaine is survived by her children Joyce (Richard) Tanzer of Glendale, CA and Keith Parkinson of Flint; grandchildren Michelle Parkinson, Kesha (Mike) Fuller, Tara Parkinson, Todd Parkinson, Christa Parkinson, Matthew Parkinson, Sirena Grosinsky, Steven Grosinsky; and great-grandchildren Brittani Lemonds, Megan Parkinson, Joesiah Butterfield, and Matthew D.A. Parkinson. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack and her son Lester. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.brownfh.com.
