Elmo Stadler, Jr. lived a long, happy life and died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Greenbush, Michigan June 1, 2022. He was 83. Elmo fought a brave 4-year battle with cancer yet celebrated life every day. He loved traveling as well as running the family business that he established in 1978. He continued to do so until the last weeks before his death.
He is survived by his sweetheart, Martha Lawson, and two children, Deborah (Muir) McKerracher and Donna Stadler. He has one sister, Mary Hawkins. He was a beloved Grandpa to 7 grandchildren: Heather (Joshua) Ellis, Daniel (Rebecca) Sealey, Caroline Eklund, Elijah Lockhart, Chad Stadler, Nicole (Ryan) Schrote, and William McKerracher. He was a great-grandfather to Julia (Chris) Bellefeuille, Adrianna Ellis, Margaret Sealey, Jacob Sealey, Blake Schrote and Brady Schrote. He is also survived by several cousins and nieces and nephews.
Elmo made friends wherever he traveled, and held them close as if they were family. He loved his extended family, especially those who he spent time with in Louisiana. Very special to him were Karen and Keith Miranda and their children and grandchildren. Elmo also spent a great deal of time as a guest of Stephanie Perron Boudreaux and this is very appreciated by Elmo’s family. Special friend of Elmo and his family Phil Nickerson is also appreciated.
Elmo looked forward to reuniting in Heaven with his grandparents and parents, Elmo and Myrtle Stadler. Two daughters, Dawn and Dolores also went before him, as well as brother in-law Robert Hawkins and great-niece Maria Adkinson Kinard and special friend Jean Davis.
Elmo attended General Motors Institute and retired from General Motors as a tool and die maker. He loved the beauty of nature and spending time at the oceans and Great Lakes of Michigan. He loved sharing fun events such as Mardi Gras and cruises with his family and friends.
Elmo’s family wishes to thank the Guardian Angel Hospice of Louisiana, Kindred Hospice of Florida, and Compassus Hospice of Michigan for taking care of Elmo over the past 6 months. Your love and kindness will never be forgotten.
Elmo will be laid to rest next to his daughter, Dawn, at Flint Memorial Park in a private service. A celebration of his life is planned for a later date.
