

WASHBURN, Esther M. – age 100, formerly of Flint, passed away September 16, 2016 at McLaren – Lapeer. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan with Rev. Tommy McDoniel officiating. Burial follows at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 11 am to 1 p.m. Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Suncrest Nursing Home (Lapeer County Medical Care Facility) in Lapeer. Esther was born February 7, 1916 in Terre Haute, Indiana the daughter of the late Everett and Grace Ford. She had resided in the Flint area for most of her life. She married Howard Washburn in Flint in 1937 and he preceded her in death in 2002. Mrs. Washburn was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a life member of the Girl Scouts for over 64 years. Surviving are: son, Robert Washburn and wife Judy of Davison; two daughters, Sharon Day and husband Danny of Spiceland, IN and Carol Ragusa and husband Breezie of Breaux Bridge, LA. Her memory will be cherished by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Mrs. Washburn was also preceded in death by her son, William Everett Washburn in 1946 and two brothers, Howard Ford and Charles Ford.
