

PIKE, DR. FREDERICK P. age 84, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Private family Memorial Services will be held this summer at Lake Michigan. Frederick was born November 26, 1929 in Flint, Michigan to parents Paul and Leita (Root) Pike. Fred was President of the Junior class at Northern High School where he played football as a tackle for three years and graduated in 1947. Later he served in the Air Force at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, Washington for 2 years. Fred was a member of the First Presbyterian Church all of his life and was a member of the choir for 40 years, a Past President and member of the Flint Downtown Kiwanis Club for 55 years, a Past President and member of the U. of M. Club of Greater Flint. He was an avid sailor competing in the Detroit to Mackinaw race for many years, Fred (with his family) was an accomplished snow skier. He practiced Dentistry in Flint for 56 years. Fred always wanted to be a Dentist, like his dad, since he was a little boy and that was his total focus at school. He graduated from U. of M. School of Dentistry and practiced till he was 80 years old. Fred was passionate about U. of M. Football and held season tickets for 50 years and named his sailboat “GO BLUE”. Surviving are wife Janice; children David Pike and partner Norrine, Jim (Carol) Pike, Laura (Michael) Levenberg, Paul Pike, Bob Pike; 11 grandchildren; sisters Mary Christian and Virginia Paul; several nieces and nephews. Contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Flint or the Salvation Army.
