

Gail Diane Hutchison was born to Harry and Beatrice Larson on August 7, 1945, she passed away on September 6, 2024. Her memorial service will be held on September 19, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church of Flint, 746 S. Saginaw St., Flint, MI. Visitation will be from 10 -11 am with the funeral following at 11:00am, Dr. Paul Ytterock will be officiating.
Gail was born in Grand Blanc and attended school there from K-12 in what is now called Perry Center. After graduation she moved to New Mexico, where she was a secretary at New Mexico State University. It was also here that she gave birth to Timothy Mark and Tamara Diane Swinson. Gail, Tim and Tami moved back to Flint, MI where she went to work at Citizens Bank as a teller and worked in the proof department. While at the bank she moved to Burton, MI, where she gave birth to Thomas Murray Hutchison. Leaving the bank, she became the secretary to the Flint Council of Churches. After a rewarding stay there, she went to work as a secretary at the Grand Blanc Schools from where she retired.
Gail committed her life to serving others, starting as a volunteer for the Flint Youth Services Bureau. She went through an extensive training to become a minister in Koinonia Ministries at First Congregational Church of Grand Blanc. She then completed an associate’s degree in Grief Counseling which led her to becoming a volunteer for Genesee County Hospice. After joining First Presbyterian church of Flint she trained for and became a Peer Counselor at the Gerholz Counseling Center, which was located at the church. Other volunteer positions included being a Board Member for Crossover Outreach, a volunteer at Adopt-A-Pet, Fenton and transporting and visiting shut-ins providing comfort and care to those who were in need. A woman of many talents, Gail was a gifted potter, pianist, and gardener. She found joy in traveling, knitting, fashion, and the serenity of quiet moments by the water.
In addition to her three children, Gail is survived by three grandchildren who she loved dearly. Andrew and Kaleigh Carlone who live in Boulder, Colorado and Avery Vorse who lives in Flint, Michigan.
She also leaves behind special friends Sue Karau, Sandy Parsons, Marci Hamilton, Jessica Frasier, neighbors at Bella Vista Apartments, and a wonderful care team.
