

Glenn was born on July 29th, 1941 in Harlan, Kentucky. Son of the late Lester and Letha Cottrell, he leaves behind two children Beth (Jeff) Duval of Goodrich and Rebecca (Matt) Anderson of Grand Blanc. Six grandchildren Megan (Tim) Kimball, Rachel Duval, Zach Duval, Ashley Duval, Sarah Anderson, and Ryan Anderson; his brother Larry Cottrell; his former wife Cheryl Cottrell; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Tommy Lynn Brown.
Glenn served time in the army as an airborne telephone lineman paratrooper. He helped restore power after the Valdivia, Chile earthquake in 1960. He received the Army Commendation Medal for his bravery at Camp Mackall North Carolina, saving vital equipment during a fire and explosion. He received his associate degree in engineering, from Lawrence Tech. He worked at General Motors, retiring from Buick City in 1999 as a maintenance supervisor. Glenn enjoyed spending time with his family at his summer cottage in Lexington and he enjoyed trips with his grandchildren to Disney. He could often be found helping his family and neighbors during his retirement. A special thanks to the staff at Courtyard Manor and Swan Hospice for their loving care.
A memorial visitation for Glenn will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Grand Blanc United Methodist Church, 515 Bush Ave, Grand Blanc, MI. Followed by the memorial service and luncheon starting at 11:00 am. An inurnment with military honors will occur Friday, December 1, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd, Holly, Michigan 48443. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fish of Grand Blanc, 5131 Saginaw Rd, Flint, MI 48507.
