

MACDONALD, Ian Alastair – age 81 of Grand Blanc, MI passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Medilodge of Grand Blanc, surrounded by his family. Per his wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Monday August 3, 2015 at Hill Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Ian was born June 11, 1934 in Detroit, MI to Alexander Hugh John and Isabella Macintosh (Green) Macdonald. He served his country in the United States Army. Ian married Glenda Bush in Warren, MI on June 4, 1960. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Engineering. He later went on to the Detroit College of Law and served as Oakland County’s Prosecuting Attorney. In 1971, Ian and his family moved to Honolulu, HI where he opened his own private practice specializing in family law. He lived there for 30 years and moved back to Michigan in 2001. Ian enjoyed golfing, playing cards, Scrabble, and all sorts of other games. He was a member of the Michigan and Hawaii State Bar, the Elks Lodge in Honolulu, and the Caldonian Society. He and Glenda traveled to various parts of the world, including Scotland, Austria, London, Japan, Paris, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, California, and many other places across the U.S. Ian is survived by his wife; Glenda (Bush) Macdonald, children; Tamara (Marc Scheuer) Macdonald, Debbie Jo (Barbie Elliott) Macdonald, and Craig Alastair (Kazue) Macdonald, grandchildren; Staci (Zach), Jaimie, Alexis, and Ian, great-grandchildren; Christopher, Benjamin, and Braelyn, brother; Bruce (Mary Jane) Macdonald, bother-in-law, Terry (Lucy) Bush, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his lifelong friends, Matt and Joan Shadeck. Those desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association or Gentiva Hospice.
