She married her dear husband, Al, in 1944. Irene retired from General Motors in 1978. Throughout her life, she was a very caring and generous soul. She always had a smile on her face and was never afraid to help those in need. In her free time, she loved to be with her family and friends, paint, read, watch her beloved Hallmark Channel, sew, and travel – especially to Palmetto, Florida where she used to live. Irene loved her family and adored all of the time she got to spend with them. Irene will be deeply missed by those she loved and cherished throughout her life.
Irene is survived by her nieces and nephews: Betty Sumner, Jerry (Jeanette) Gilbert, John Gilbert, Julia (David) Asselin, Frances Bamberger, and David (Susan) Gilbert; niece-in-law: Phyllis Gilbert; special friends: Don and Kathy Bendall and Cheryl Lasley; and many great nieces, nephews, and cousins.
