

Irma L. Pickering, age 100 of Grand Blanc, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 9, 2021 at home with her precious family. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 4pm-8pm at Bethany Baptist Church - 2353 E. Grand Blanc Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 11am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at Bethany Baptist Church. Interment to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Irma was born in Flint on March 20, 1921, daughter of the late Fred and Elva May Bradley. She graduated from the Providence School of Nursing and served in the United States Navy as a Navy Nurse during WWII. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, a Bible Study leader, and a deaconess. Irma also served as a leader in Child Evangelism for many years. She is survived by her children: Catherine DeSota, Carole MacRae (Marvin) Schierbeck, Janine (John) Hewlett, and David (Jenny) Pickering. Irma is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Irma was preceded in death by her husband Jim Pickering and son, Jim Pickering, Jr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bethany Baptist Church. Irma was a wonderful wife, grandma, and great-grandma, as well as a leader and Godly example to her family, friends and the many people her life has touched over the years.
