

Assisted Living. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 26, 2010
at the Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St. Grand Blanc, MI. Interment
at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00
P.M. and Thursday 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Joe was born July 31, 1920 in
Flint, MI to parents Louis and Anna (Kolechar) Lacina. He graduated from
Grand Blanc High School in '39 and married Doris Miller in '41. Joe was
inducted in the United States Army in 1942 - 9th Air Force ~ 859th
Chemical Company serving as a Staff Sergeant. Later he was discharged
in 1945. After discharge, he returned to the family business operation and
remained there until the early 60' s, when they decided to sell the company.
Joe went to work for Yerkey & Son Chevrolet for several years ; later for
Uptegraff Chevrolet in Davison. In 1978, he was appointed Aide to the
National Commander of the American Legion and traveled to all 50 States,
and many countries. He served as Commander of the Grand Blanc
American Legion Post #413 in 1963. Since that time, he spent many
years as its Adjutant . He and his brother were the first siblings to join the Elks in the
downtown Flint location. Surviving are children Judith Lacina of Ann
Arbor, MI, Dorrie (Richard) Davis of Idaho; grandchildren Joseph,
Pennelope Blakely, Jacquelyn West; great-grandson Owen Murdock; sister
Helen Dewey; nephews Rich Lacina, Dennis Dewey, Tom Dewey, and Rick
Dewey. Preceded in death by his wife Doris (Dolly) and brother Louis.
