

Mark C. Werthman (age 77) of Grand Blanc, Michigan passed away in his home on March 31, 2025. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Monroe and Betty Werthman. Mark was a doting son to Betty. During school, he could be found mentioned in the Speedway Chronicles for several academic achievements and his participation in his school’s Christmas pageant. He was active in his high-school’s chess club, wrestling team, and golf team. When he wasn’t in class, he could be found racing anything and everything. He had a need for speed. Mark went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from Indiana University and an MBA from Central Michigan University. Upon graduation, he went to work in the Public Sector.
During his time in the Public Sector, he met his wife and partner in all things, Gail Werthman. They were married in 1985 surrounded by family and friends. They began their life together with Mark’s two daughters, Jenny and Melissa. Mark and Gail went on to welcome two additional children, Sarah and Jack. Mark was a dedicated provider for his family. He was a proud employee of Chrysler for 24 years. In addition to his role at Chrysler, he was an associate faculty member at Purdue University for 26 years.
Mark was known for his hard work and dedication. He was a man of few words, but with those words he could tell a joke or a funny story like no other. He was a young man at heart who loved fast cars, a good whiskey, and his family.
Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Betty and his father, Monroe. He is survived by his wife, Gail, and his children, Jack (Kayleigh) Werthman, Sarah (Austin) Hoyt, Melissa Werthman, and Jennifer Werthman along with 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
