

HANDWERKER, Mary Jo – of Davison, age 86, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Brookdale – Grand Blanc. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, 746 S. Saginaw Street, Flint with the Rev. Dr. Joseph A. Novak officiating. Final interment will take place at Sunset Hills Cemetery at a later date. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the First Presbyterian Church Music Fund or to the charity of your choice. Mary Jo was born in Flint, Michigan on January 14, 1930 the daughter of the late Donavon and Hester (Hamblin) Cameron. She graduated from Flint Northern High School with the class of 1948. Mary Jo married Richard B. Handwerker on March 11, 1950. Mrs. Handwerker was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was involved in the church choir for over 50 years. She was a retired employee of the Michigan National Bank. She loved to travel and do various crafts. Surviving are: son: David (Wyn) Handwerker of Davison; daughters, Julie Anne (Eric) Larsen of Marshall, Wisconsin and Laurie (Rodney) Gooch of Otisville; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; many close cousins, nieces and nephews; and her faithful dog, “Timmy”. Mrs. Handwerker was preceded in death by her son, Richard R. Handwerker on April 12, 2006 and by her husband, Richard B. Handwerker on May 24, 2011, and also by her sister, Nancy Darby.
