Born on January 15, 1940 in Tennessee, Peggy earned her Professional Nursing Degree, married and moved to Flint in the late 1960's, making Michigan her permanent home. She loved the Great Lakes and lighthouses! Peggy worked full-time as a Registered Nurse in Flint, first at St. Joseph Hospital, then the City of Flint Public Health Department, and retired after many years of service from Hurley Hospital.
Peggy was a faithful and devoted friend and is completely irreplaceable in our hearts. She was truly "one of a kind", with a great sense of humor. She brought a light so great to this world, that even after her passing, her light remains. Peggy was funny and very intelligent, strong and determined, fierce but tender, protective and kind, tenacious and passionate and truly a lady of many positive traits. Most of all, Peggy was a woman of Faith and a true believer in Our Lord and Savior.
Peggy dearly loved her "critters", especially her birds and beloved German Shepherd dog, Candy Girl with whom she "shared" her food and sweet treats.
Whatever activity she participated in, be it softball, belly or ballroom dancing, golf, bowling, gardening, cooking or canning, Peggy gave it her all in her "Sweet Southern Style". Peggy was also an avid Detroit Tigers fan, enjoying trips to Tiger Stadium and rarely missing a game on TV.
Another of Peggy's favorite things to do was to eat out with friends. After enjoying a meal, she would often order a duplicate meal to take home to eat later and share with Candy Girl. When the food was particularly good, she might even choose a second or third entree To Go, joking that she had to keep Candy fed.
Peggy will be dearly missed by her "adopted Michigan family". She is survived by her "sister and bestfriend", Dorie Mather; Bob Mather, Marc (Christie) Mather, Eric (Anne) Mather and children; "Mother", Annabelle Dziuba; "Siblings": Dianne Parrish, Janice Jones, Phyllis Gouza, Loni Hosler, Wayn Dziuba, Dave Dziuba and many nieces and nephews. She will also be deeply missed by dear friends and neighbors: Barb and Jim Cole, Lottie Church, Anita Scott, Jo Breedlove, Galene and Dennis Chaney and families and friends from Colonial Lanes Bowling of Flushing, and brother, Lewis Lee of Tennessee.
A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 1:00pm - 2:30pm followed by a Celebration of Life Service in the Mausoleum Chapel of New Calvary Catholic Cemetery - 4142 Flushing Road, Flint, Michigan officiated by Deacon Tony Verdun of St. John Vianney Parish. A luncheon for all will follow the service at the Liberty Family Dining at 6277 West Pierson Road, Flushing, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, please say a prayer for the people of Ukraine and/or donate to the International Committee of the Red Cross.
