

Peter “Pete” Angelo Sardo,77, passed on April 17,2026 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Pete was born in Detroit, MI the son of the late Peter and the late Rosalie Sardo.
Pete served in the U.S.Army in Germany 1967-1969 and Vietnam 1969-1970 and again in the National Guard Active Reserves from 1981-1990. He was very active in helping other veterans. He was a founding member of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 154 (Mt. Clemens, MI); life member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 129 (Shelby Twp, MI); member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 582 (Ortonville, MI). He was also a trained Peer Support volunteer at the Saginaw VA Medical Center.
He was a founding member of the Great Lakes National Cemetery Advisory Council which helped get the Great Lakes National Cemetery in place and up & running serving as the Advisory Council Treasurer for many years.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #6742 in Grand Blanc,MI. He was a Big Brother (Big Brothers/Big Sisters) to his “little” brother, Larry, from 1973 to his passing(53 years).
After he retired he enjoyed deer hunting, the occasional Casino trip and time spent with family and friends. His “therapy” was creating beautiful stained glass pieces of art that filled our windows, back porch, the trees in our yard and were gifts given to many.
Pete is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Deborah; sons, Christopher, Peter and Nicholas; grandchildren, Joseph, Kadie, Anthony, Peter, Michaela, Cody, Layla; great grandchild, Lorelai;
“little” brother Larry(Diana)Heinz, sisters-in-law Shari(Bob)Parsons, Kathryn(Tom)Egan, brother-in-law Jim(Kathy)Hinman, “daughters” Dorie Canter and Pam Sardo, also many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends including Joann Gazzarato and Ken Vistercil.
He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Rosalie Sardo, stepfather Vito “Bill” Mazzola; brothers Alfred Sardo and Matthew Sardo; and his best friend Anthony “Tony” Gazzarato.
Memorial Mass will take place at 10am Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at Holy Family Church 11804 S Saginaw St., Grand Blanc,MI 48439. Visitation will be from 9-10am. Fr Leronio Vodivodi officiating.
Peter’s Memorial Mass will be live streamed on Holy Family Parish of Grand Blanc’s YouTube channel.
Cremation has taken place and interment will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI following Mass at 12:30pm May 27, 2026.
