

EMERTON, Robert W., Age 90, of Flint passed away August 4, 2010 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral Service will be Sunday 2 PM at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw in Grand Blanc. Rev. Paul Ytterock officiating. Visitation Saturday 3-8 PM and Sunday 12 -2 PM.
Robert proudly served his country during World War II. Serving in the Army Air Corps, he was one of the first Americans to deploy to Europe. Serving as a parachute rigger for the 27th Fighter Squadron, Robert participated in several campaigns earning 13 battle stars, including the invasion of North Africa. Robert was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Flint and active in the Boy Scouts for over 50 years, earning the rank of Eagle Scout and awarded the Silver Beaver. He attended the first Boy Scout Jamboree in 1937. Robert was also a member of the VFW, and the American Legion. He retired from the IMA after working over 30 years as a Store Keeper.
Robert leaves his beloved wife of nearly 70 years, Constance M. Emerton. They were married December 31, 1941 at First Presbyterian Church of Flint. He is the loving father of Greg (Karen) Emerton, Gae (Barry) Bomier, Eric (Mary) Emerton and Ross (Julie) Emerton and the grandfather of Kathy Emerton, Courtney (Jason) Larsen, Brad (Chris) Emerton, Whitney Bomier, Elyse Emerton, Emily Emerton and Lily Emerton. Great-grandfather of Christopher Livingston and Ian Emerton.
Donations may be made to the Music Department at First Presbyterian of Flint or BSA Tall Pine Council in Flint.
