

Robert attended college at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Throughout his life, he worked as a Supervisor for Independence Township, Chairman of the State Tax Commission, and Director of the Oakland County Equalization. Robert was also a proud member of the Grand Blanc United Methodist Church in Grand Blanc, Michigan. He will be deeply missed by those he loved and cherished.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Mary Vandermark; daughters: Alice (Keith) Sherwood and Sally (Matt) Nowak; grandchildren: Melissa (Eric) Jones, Stephen (Alicia) Sherwood, Daniel (Ashley) Sherwood, Elizabeth (Brandon) Cross, Jonathan Sherwood, Matthew (Alyssa) Sherwood, Jason (Rebecca) Nowak, Evelyn (Evan) Reeves, and Nathan Nowak; 14 great grandchildren; nephews: Tim Vandermark, Chris Vandermark, Andy Yates, Kevin Yates, and Ben Yates; great nieces: Andrea and Victoria; sister-in-laws: Jeanette Vandermark and Carol Yates; and brother-in-law, Brad Yates.
Robert is preceded in death by his father, Omer Vandermark; mother, Beatrice Vandermark; and brother, William Vandermark.
A visitation for Robert will be held on Monday, September 26, 2022 from 4pm-8pm at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S Saginaw St, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 11am with a one hour visitation prior at 10am at Grand Blanc United Methodist Church, 515 Bush Ave, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439. Robert will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in Clarkston, Michigan.
