Ruth Estelle Flowers

FLOWERS, Ruth Estelle – age 92 of Flint, passed away at McLaren Thursday, September 4, 2014. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at Brown Funeral Home 1480 E. Hill Road Grand Blanc, MI 48439. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Monday, September 8, 2014 at the funeral home, with one hour of visitation prior. Elder Garfield Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Ruth was born in Parsons, TN to the late William and Sallie (Mitchell) Moore. She married James Howell Flowers on October 24, 1940 and had been married for 73 years. Ruth worked for Stewart Sandwiches for quite some time and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a “green thumb” and loved tending to flowers and plants. She also was a lover and rescuer to many fortunate stray animals that would cross her path. She will be very sadly missed by her kitties Joy, Buddy, and Susie. Ruth is survived by her husband James; children, Douglas (Marilyn) Flowers, Nina Crnkovich, and Dalton (Shirley) Flowers; grandchildren, Debbie (Ron) Malott, Dawn (Doug) Colvin, Christopher (Janis) Pinter, Douglas (Angelina) Flowers, Daniel Flowers, April (Raymond) Fabbilli; great-grandchildren, Paul (Ewelina), Melissa, Caroline, Aiden, Keagon, Kora, Daniel, Ricki, Alexandra; brothers, Bill (Betty) Moore, Don (Glenda) Moore; sisters, Kay (James) Scott, Linda (Steve) Hendrix, Kathy Taylor; sister-in-law, Maxine Hayes; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Timmie Flowers; brothers, Donald Avon, Tommie Moore, Jim Moore, W.B. Moore; sisters, Norene Box and Nellie Mae Dunavant.
