

JEAGER, SALLY JEAN OF FLINT TOWNSHIP, age 80, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at McLaren Flint. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, November 4, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church of Flint – 746 Saginaw St., Flint, Michigan 48502. The Rev. Paul Ytterock will be officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM till time of service. Contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Library Fund or Heritage Team Fund. Sally was born November 23, 1935 in Bound Brook, New Jersey to the late Eugene and Helen Jaeger. The family moved to Kansas City, KS before moving to Flint. She retired from the Flint Public Library with 32 years seniority where she was in charge of the Reading Department and then became the manager of the Flint West Branch Library. After retirement she taught History for the Flint Community School systems. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she actively served as a Deacon, Elder and Trustee. Graduated from Mott Community Junior College and then onto the University of Michigan receiving two Master Degrees with High Honors. She attended Oxford University in England. She was an active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter BX, a member of the Kiwanis Club and The 20th Century Club, past president of the Genesee Historical Society. Sally served on the boards of many organizations, too numerous to mention. Often she was asked to become the keynote speaker at various organizations by sharing her vast knowledge of history. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her especially by her beautiful, beloved cat-Tig. She is survived by her sister Chloe DePew of Flint: nephew, Eric (Tana) Lager; great-nephews, Erik Lager and Lukas Lager of Potterville, MI; step-daughter in law, Christy Carney, step-grandchildren, Oscar & Grace Carney of Swartz Creek and several cousins. Special mention to her cousin Larry (Carol) Heiberg. Her step-son Chris Carney preceded Sally, in death.
