Samuel James Winston

2011 at the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, MI.

Leonard Meizlish officiating. Interment at Machpelah Cemetery. Samuel

was born December 21, 1919 in Davisburg, MI. to parents Sol and Anna

Weinstein. Sam married Shirley Vliet February 23, 1950. He was the owner

and operator of Burton Auto Parts since 1946. Sam served in the U.S.

Airforce during both the WW II and Korean wars. He was active in and

served as President of B’nai Brith, served on the board of the Flint Jewish

Federation, was very active in the Flint Jewish community and was a long

time member of Congregation Beth Israel. He was an active bowler and

later followed by active golfer. Surviving are wife Shirley of 61 years:

children Michael (Vicki) Winston, Dennis (Connie) Winston, Susan (James)

Wascha; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister Rose (Ben) Braiker.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents; brother Louis Winston, sister

Edith Davis, brother Myer Weinstein, sister Freda Shewach, brother

Andrew Winston, sister Reva Stern. In lieu of flowers contributions may be

made to Congregation Beth Israel or a charity of your choice. Shiva ninian

will be held Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 6:00 P.M. Congregation Beth

Israel and visitation, Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the residence after 7:00

P.M.
