Her life was defined by her deep sense of curiosity and community. Whether she was exploring the backroads of northern Michigan in her RV with her beloved dog, Sophie, or venturing through the cities and countryside of the U.S. and Europe, she embraced the world with open arms. Her travels included memorable visits to relatives in the Czech Republic, where she reconnected with her family’s heritage.
She was deeply committed to the city of Flint, where she spent many years teaching and shaping young minds. After retiring, her love for learning never faded. She became a familiar face at the Flint Institute of Arts, taking classes and continuing to find beauty in creativity. She also loved gathering with her dear friend, Jeanette Veenhuis for dinners at Flint’s local restaurants, always supporting the city she cared so deeply about.
Preceded in death by her parents; William E. Lockard and Thelma I. Lockard, her brother; Joseph E. Lockard and her sister, Lynda L. Lockard.

Lockard of Columbus Ohio, great niece and nephew; Kaleigh Lockard, and Tyler Lockard of Columbus Ohio, great friends Dave and Becky Pettengill of Flint, and Mark Spencer and Paul Baker, of Las Vegas.
Her presence will be missed, but her memory lives on in every classroom she touched, every road she traveled, and every corner of Flint she called home.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
