

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Abie J. Atencio. A beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend.
Abie was born on October 24, 2001, in Grand Junction, Colorado. He attended local schools, where he graduated from Central high school in 2021 and built lasting friendships with teachers and students alike. Abie worked as an epoxy installer with his family’s epoxy coating business, dedicating his time and talent to his craft.
Throughout his life, Abie demonstrated his love for sports, wrestling for Tiger Paws, Lil Mavs, and Bookcliff Middle School, and playing peewee football. Floral design which he learned and loved while attending the Career Center’s Floral classes. An avid bowler, he shared many joyful moments with his friends at Mosaic. His passion extended to collecting rare gemstones, unique rocks, and crystals, as well as expressing his creativity as a content creator on V-Tube and TikTok. Abie was a tech enthusiast who loved working on his computer, always exploring new ideas and possibilities.
Abie’s generous spirit was evident in his volunteer work with Food of the Rockies, where he gave back to his community. Known as a kind-hearted, loving, and gentle giant, Abie’s sense of humor, dedication, and intelligence touched everyone who knew him. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and brought light into the lives of those around him.
Abie leaves behind cherished memories with his family: his father, Abie Leo Atencio; his mother, Consuelo (Connie) Atencio; his sister, Onieka Atencio; and his nephew, Julian J. Cisneros. He is also survived by his uncles and aunts: Albert W. Atencio; Pearl & Ken Archuleta; Serina Lind; Lorraine Lind; Terry L. Lind Jr. of Grand Junction, Colorado; and Anita Lind of Manassa, Colorado, along with numerous cousins.
He joins in eternal rest his grandparents, Abie J. & Stella Atencio, Terry L. Lind Sr., and Clyde J. Ruble; his uncle, Leslie L. Lind; and several great aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Abie will be remembered as a gentle giant with a huge heart, a loving son, and a friend to many. His infectious laughter will echo in our hearts forever.
