Agnes (Aggie) R. Wareham, 92, died March 6, 2024, in Farmington, NH. She was born in Grand Junction on March 26, 1931, to Ed and Helen (Shreck) Lines of Gateway. Aggie graduated from Gateway School in 1948. She married Ted Wareham (deceased) in 1949 and they had two daughters, Teddi (deceased) and Dixie. Except for the last 6 years, Aggie lived her entire life in Gateway.
She worked as the Gateway School Cook for 33 years. She is still remembered for the delicious cookies she served. She attended every school and community event and actively participated when possible. She organized and led the 4-H club in Gateway and was recognized by the Mesa County Extension Service for 50 years of service. Aggie was a member of Wayside Chapel and served in various capacities.
Aggie was an accomplished crafter. She built a picnic table and patio furniture. She was an avid quilter and gave many quilts away to family and friends. She was an accomplished seamstress, knitter and crocheter. If it could be done, and she wanted to do it, she found a way!
Aggie was a voracious reader. She read a wide variety of topics, from books about climate change, current political candidates, historical non-fiction, biographies and autobiographies, and historical novels. One of Aggie’s primary interests was the weather and weather patterns. The first thing she would ask someone on the phone is “What is the weather there?” She served as the National Weather Reporter for the Gateway area until she moved to NH.
Aggie is survived by her daughter, Dixie and Kent Mason of Farmington, NH; grandson, Matt Mason of Seattle WA; two sisters, Jessie and Beeman Casto and Rowena McLaughlin, both of Gateway CO; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on March 25, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Martin Mortuary in Grand Junction. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Aggie to Cornerstone VNA-Hospice, 178 Farmington Rd., Rochester, NH 03867.
