Alan Byron Chandler passed in peace on Thursday, September 22, 2016, in Grand Junction.
Alan had been a resident of Grand Junction since 1978, although he was born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas. During his career, Alan served as a Transportation Specialist for Holsum Quality Breads and the 7Up Bottling Company.
After initially meeting in the 1970s, Alan and his wife, Shirley Cyr, lived the past 12 years together in a cherished and loving union. Alan loved to fish and take their beloved dog, Mary, on long walks. He loved to ride his motorcycle with his best friend, John, in his younger years. Alan was a cowboy at heart and westerns were usually on the television.
Alan was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Glen Chandler, mother, Frances L. Chandler, brothers, Albert Chandler and Alfred Chandler, and sister Nellie Myrick.
Alan is survived by his wife, Shirley Cyr, his sister Vicki Chandler and her husband, Chris Dennis, of Grand Junction, his brother and sister-in-law, Ernest (Joe) and Helen Chandler, of Cedaredge, CO, nieces and nephews, Cindy Terrell, Prairie Village, KS, Gary Myrick and his wife Rachel, Overland Park, KS, Julie Green (Michael), Missouri, Donnie Chandler, New Mexico, Mike Chandler and his wife, Wendy, Pueblo, CO, and Jeremy Sheley and his wife, Janean, of Grand Junction. Alan had three great nephews and eight great nieces, as well as numerous family members on the Cyr side of the family.
A graveside service in Alan’s memory will be held at Palisade Cemetery, Grand Junction, on Thursday, September 29, 2016, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice in Alan’s name. Rest in peace dear Alan. You were loved by many and will never be forgotten.
