He married Linda on July 16, 1999. They were married for almost 22 years. They lived in Grand Junction, Colorado.

He enjoyed playing with our grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He never knew a stranger. He was always ready to help those who he thought needed help with food, clothes, etc. One time, he gave his coat to someone who didn’t have a coat.

In Lieu of flowers, please consider the following in Alex’s name:
While the VA will pay for a full honor funeral, they will not cover transportation to the funeral home or cremation (cremation was Alex’s wish). There was no life insurance so any contribution to his wife to be spent on the expenses not covered would be appreciated, I’m sure by Alex. All money will go to first, funeral expenses, then to help pay bills.
Other organizations you might want to contribute to in Alex’s name are Hope West of the Grand Valley, 3090B North 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO. They provided excellent care to Alex in his final days and to me, I was allowed to stay with him day and night. I’m having a brick placed with his name in the sidewalk in their garden.
St. Jude’s in Denver, Colorado, 1660 South Albion Street. Alex always wanted to help the little children with cancer.
Roice Hurst Society, 362 28 Road, Grand Junction, CO. He loved all animals and hated it when something came on TV that showed them being abused.
180 Ministries of Denver, Colorado, 2634 South Broadway. This organization works with people and families with addiction problems.
Or if you want, just buy someone a sandwich or a cup of coffee, or a gat or gloves in Alex’s name; he would love that.
Following his wish, he will be cremated and will be honored with a full military funeral. The date has not been set yet for the funeral, but will allow time for family to come.
