Becky McNiel

Becky was born February 26,1946 in Ferron, Utah, daughter of Orren Bert “Ike” and Alice Mae Hubbard.

She married her devoted husband of 58 years, Arthur “Bud” McNiel on January 22, 1967 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bud was from Hulbert, Oklahoma and they spent their first five years traveling the States building communication towers. After spending the next three years in Hulbert, Oklahoma they settled in Colorado in 1975 where they raised their two daughters.

Throughout her life, Becky loved the mountains, especially the Uncompahgre Plateau where she spent time as a child with her family on their ranch. Becky and Bud spent most weekends camping and hunting on the Uncompahgre along with other mountain ranges.

Becky worked as an Instructional Assistant at Loma Elementary for 30 years. Her career started at the “old” Loma School and then moved to the current Loma Elementary. She loved working with her multiple generations of “kids”.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents; her brother-in-law Blaine Silliman; sisters and brothers-in-law Barbara (Robert) Dalton and Pat (Sam Jim) Richards; father and mother-in-law Virgil and Mary McNiel; sister-in-law Barbara McNiel and brother-in-law Doris Gower.

She is survived by her husband Bud and their daughters Michele McNiel and Kimberley (James) Chaffin; her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the light of her life; sisters Sandi Silliman and Sue (Derryle) Baker; sisters-in-law Tweetsie (Bob) Patterson, Linda (Tommy) Baker and Melissa Gower; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her earthly children, she also carried the love and memory of their son Baby Preston Bert McNiel who was stillborn on December 9, 1969. Her heart was filled with joy and sorrow for her little one, and her love for him was eternal.
