Burl Robert Jensen

Burl Robert Jensen, 61, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022, in Grand Junction, Colorado following an unfortunate motorcycle accident. Burl was born in Sandstone, Minnesota on September 17, 1960, the son of Jack Dale Jensen and Susan Margery (Sue) Jensen. Burl was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jack (‘J’) Dale Jensen Jr., and his beloved grandfather and grandmother, Robert and Gertrude Nelson.

Burl was married to Rita Bowers for 15 years, together for 28 wonderful years. Burl and Rita had two fur kids, St. Bernard dogs, Norman and Idgie. Burl is survived by sister Jennifer Beckey (Scott), brothers Martin Jensen, Jess Jensen (Darlee), and Bart Jensen (Kay), cousin Andy Nelson (Pamela), uncle Robert Nelson, nieces Ashley Jensen (Parker) and Kirsten Nelson, nephew Brett Nelson, and many cousins and other family members, too many to name but loved all.

Burl lived in many different places growing up, including Minnesota, Montana, Wyoming, California and Colorado. Burl lived for the past 28 years in Grand Junction, Colorado, an area he loved and enjoyed greatly. Burl had a long career in the oil and gas industry, most recently for a company in Texas. Burl was well regarded by his co-workers. Burl enjoyed a great life, with many friends and family members he enjoyed spending time with.

Burl was amazing at developing and keeping relationships. He worked a job where he frequently traveled to a different state to work. He always made it a point to stop by and say hi to a friend or a family member on the way through. Burl was one of those rare, genuinely happy people. He loved his life. Burl found joy in the relationships he had – the friends and family he treasured, his work colleagues whom he liked and respected, his pleasure in each different person apparent – he found something good in everyone. Burl embraced each and every day as a gift. Even though Burl faced many difficult situations in his life, he handled each with grace and honesty.

Burl loved his family, drinking coffee, traveling, motorcycling, and reading.

Everyone liked Burl, he was easygoing with a great sense of humor. Burl did life right. He showed up when needed and knew when he needed to. He believed in paying it forward.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, in Hinsdale, Montana, at the American Legion Hall followed by interment in the Hinsdale Cemetery.
