Cameron Greta Donaldson Postle (Cam) was born on June 25, 1926, in New York City, New York, and died on April 26, 2025, in Grand Junction, Colorado after a full and adventurous life. During her lifetime, she lived in several states, depending on work and family needs. In 1946, she received her B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from Purdue University, and in 1947, she received her M.S., also in Aeronautical Engineering, from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She was one of the first recipients of the Amelia Earhart Scholarship for Graduate Studies from Zonta International.
Cam worked as an aerodynamics project leader at Bell Aircraft in New York from 1947 to 1953. In 1950, she married Robert S. Postle, Jr. (Bob), a fellow aeronautical engineer. She was also active in civic and charity work, including the League of Women Voters. She and her husband Bob enjoyed meeting people from different cultures and travelled widely across North America, while also visiting numerous European countries and Africa; Cam was also an early traveler to China in the early 1980s. In her leisure time, Cam also enjoyed gardening and reading and dabbled at sculpture and painting.
Throughout her life, she was an enthusiastic and skilled golfer and worked to encourage young girls in golf. In the 1970s, together with her good friend Margaret Donaldson, Cam created the largest Junior Girls Golf program in Louisiana (and potentially the South), with over 120 girls learning the game in a single year when the program was at its peak. She went on to become a member of the USGA Girls’ Junior Committee and sat on the Rules Committee for several Junior tournaments. She also played in numerous local, state and Southern golf tournaments, winning her local club championship for too many years to count. In 2011, she received a Lifetime Service Award at the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the Women’s Southern Golf Association.
Surviving family includes her sons, Robert Cairns Postle and David Cameron Postle; her daughter, Mary Greta (Meg) Postle; and grandchildren, Conner Everett Postle, Hayden Robert Postle-Floyd, and Kenneth Marshall Postle-Floyd.
