She was a homemaker.
Carol loved the outdoors, whether fishing, boating, camping or riding in the RV, she was happiest when she could do any of these activities with her family. She taught herself to play the piano, and every song she played was “always in the key of C”. Carol also had a knack for cooking dishes that her family loved, but have so far been difficult to replicate.
Her survivors include her sons, Jack (Tina) Blackwood of Fruita, Leo (Jayme) Blackwood of Palisade, Tony (Minghan) Ahlswede of Fruita, and Rod (Sharon) Cowan of Clifton; sisters, Jacqueline McPherson-Atchison of Palisade, and Iris Dilling of Grand Junction; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alta (Daugherty) Bierce; her husband, James Wallace Cowan; and her eldest son, Darren Criswell.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Mortuary.
