Carolyn was born on March 12, 1947 in Leavenworth Kansas. Carolyn entered this world with adversity woven into her very first breath—an unchosen inheritance of challenge that would shape her in ways no one could yet see. The odds stood tall, unyielding, as if daring her to rise. And though she was small, fragile, and new, something within her refused to bend entirely. It wasn’t strength, not yet—not the kind you can name—but a quiet persistence, a flicker that would, over time, learn how to burn.
Carolyn found joy in the simple, soulful things that colored her days. The voices of Elvis Presley, Marty Robbins, and George Jones filled her world, their songs becoming both comfort and companion. Music wasn’t just something she listened to—it was something she felt, something that stayed with her.
She loved picnic trips, where laughter drifted as easily as the breeze, and where time seemed to slow just enough to savor the moment. A good cheeseburger could make her smile without effort—simple pleasures that never lost their charm.
And when the seasons turned, her heart lit up most during Christmas and Easter. Those days brought warmth, tradition, and a sense of togetherness she cherished deeply—moments that wrapped her in joy and gave her something to look forward to year after year.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elizabeth M. Rhodes, and her sister, Peggy Klumker.
She is survived by her loving family: her sister, Cindy Rhodes; her brother, William Jay Rhodes; her niece, Elizabeth Vrbas; and her nephew, Jacob Rhodes
