In 1966, Christine's father passed away, and her family relocated to West Des Moines, Iowa, where she graduated from Valley High School in 1969.

She served as a church organist and was a substitute teacher in Maryland and District 51. She had a passion for hand quilting and needlework.
On June 26, 1976, she married her longtime friend, J. Douglas Grodt, and moved to Maryland with him, where he worked as an electronic engineer for the U.S. Dept. of Defense. Two children were born to their union, Carolyn M. and Paul D. Grodt. After living in Maryland for 31 years, the couple retired to Grand Junction in 2007. The couple traveled extensively over the past 17 years, enjoying the culture, art, architecture, and music of many countries.
Christine was a member of the Redland's United Methodist Church, and was active in the Daughter's of the American Revolution, and P.E.O.
