Darlya was born on October 14, 1939 to John and Wanda (Carter) Isom in rural southern Illinois. Darlya started her career in computer data entry in Chicago at Time Incorporated back when computer cards were state of the art. She later relocated to Grand Junction and worked in hospital administration. After marrying her second husband Stan, she was a homemaker raising three kids while also working at McFarland Construction as bookkeeper and sometimes painter or whatever else needed done. She later went back to work in in the medical field spending most of the time doing insurance billing.
Darlya enjoyed collecting dolls and Indian rugs. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, floral arranging along with other crafts. She pretended to enjoy other things such as watching the family waterski. She played softball and volleyball in her younger days. Later in life she enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and flirting with doctors. She also loved Robert Redford.
Darlya was predeceased by her daughter Carmen Allen, husband Stan McFarland, brother and sister-in-law Bud and Gloria Jordan. She is survived by her sons Max and Rob McFarland, along with her grandchildren Travis Allen, Daniel Allen, Blake McFarland and Grant McFarland.
