I was a childhood friend of David's.  I lived up the street from him on Vosseller Ave. and we spent hours in the woods with a gang of our friends having "acorn" wars and doing kid things. We went to Martinsville school together. I had a terrible crush on him when I was in 3rd grade! His mom was my phys ed teacher in middle school. I saw his name on a memorial list  that was sent from our 55th high school reunion committee. I have often wondered what became of David over the years and was very sorry to hear of his passing.

At a time like this it's a struggle to get the words put down. I can't think of Dave in the past tense, even though I know he has left the confines of this earth. The two of us just have too much history for that, going all the way back to our high school days in Jersey. We shared some great times and some really tough times. He was our class president, ring leader, host of legendary Martinsville pool parties,  and the wagon master of the great New Jersey exodus to the Rockies. Most of all he was a great friend, someone you knew could be counted on.
Our paths may have separated years back Dave, but I'll see you when I get there brother.

I first met my dear friend David Coddington at CSU my freshman year. When I got married in 1977 in California, Codds was an easy choice to be my “Best Man”. The last time that we were together was at a Fourth of July pig roast at his house in Silt. We had a great day! That is where the picture was taken.I was hoping for another rendezvous, but I was too late. Dave was my quintessential “Best Man” for as long as I knew him. R.I.P. Dave I will miss your sense of humor, your smile and all of the good times that we had, but I will never forget.

I will miss my old pal as I have for the past 25 years.  Goodbye old friend.

David was my cousin. As we grew up in the town of Martinsville, NJ we enjoyed many family get togethers. Our families celebrated Christmas Eve together, with delicious foods and family – and the anticipation of gifts the next day made us very excited. We had summer picnics in his family’s back yard and swimming fun in their pool. After Dave moved to Colorado, we lost touch, but his parents provided a communication link and shared stories and photos about their visits to see David and Bonnie.  About 12 or so years ago, Dave started calling me - usually on or near Christmas Eve to reconnect and recount memories from our youth, and let me know how he and his family were.  He will be missed by family, friends and me.   - Karen  C Swart

Dave was a great friend for 54 years. Not only a fine builder, but a fisherman, too. He was my best hiking and camping buddy. Dave was  authentic, honest, and fun. He will be missed. Love you, Dave. Happy trails.


My husband and I have know David for years-We lost touch when he moved down by GJ-We have a lot of fond memories of good times spent with David-His children are still good friends with our youngest daughter-David was an incredible carpenter, he built our beautiful home in 1982-It has served us well for 40 years-Many of David’s ideas were incorporated in the design, one of those being a much loved greenhouse/sunroom-Rest in peace David and may God’s loving angels embrace you on your way to the next journey!
