November 1, 1924 - April 28, 2011
Delores (or Jean, as most knew her) was born in Longmont, CO, to Joseph and Mary Bell Milner.
Jean is survived by all of her children, four from her first marriage to Victor Hugh Thompson; Shirley Thorpe, Victor Thompson, Julie Angle, and Joey Dodgion. Two more children were from her second marriage in 1949 to Leonard Rich; Lennie Bangert and Della Berg. Leonard passed away in August 2004. Jean also has 15 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Jean lived in Mack, CO since 1946, where she and her family farmed tomatoes and cucumbers on 50 acres of land. Later on, farming grew to include more land with alfalfa, corn, and cattle. In addition to farming, Jean worked at Fruita grocery and drug stores, drove a school bus, and owned and operated a restaurant and liquor store. She was involved in community functions and donated property to the Mack Sewer Project as well as offered land for the Loma Elementary School.
Jean enjoyed getting together with family for birthdays and holidays, spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing cards and Rummikub, and reading her Christian literature. At age 80, Jean even started going to the Fruita Gym where she was a regular until just a few weeks ago.
Funeral Services for Jean will be held on Friday, may 6, 2011 at 10am, at Sacred Heart Church in Fruita. In lieu of flowers, Jean and her family prefer donations to be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, 3090B North 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506. Arrangements have been entrusted to Martin Mortuary.
