

Ed was born on November 25th 1929 in Lamont, MI from the union of John and Marion (Perrin) Burdick. He served in the US Army from 1947-1949 and was a proud American. Following the Korean Conflict Ed was a Honor Guard Sigma Re recognizing South Korea's first government. He was also a life time member of the VFW post in Grand Junction Colorado.
In Nov of 1964 Ed had hit rock bottom and turned his life around. He recognized his need for God and became a man of Faith. He was a member of the of the Salvation Army and a Corps Sargent Major for a number of years and more recently he attended Bible Study and Sunday Services at Heather Garden Chapel's in Aurora, Co.
Ed was a recovering alcoholic and would have received his 53 year sobriety chip in November 2017. He had a passion for chairing and speaking at AA meetings which he continued to do up until his illness prohibited him from doing so. Ed love sharing his story and encouraging others in their recovery process. He recognized God as his higher power who helped and guided him "One Day at a Time"
Ed was known to be a prolific talker and all who knew him enjoyed hearing his many stories. He was gifted with a sharp mind and could rattle off names, dates and events that happened years ago. Ed lived a very colorful and enriched life and could keep one entertained for hours, days and even years with the stories of his past.
Ed was also a passionate man and will be remembered for his quick wit, speaking his mind, Bronco Fan. A proud American Veteran with an Irish Temper, very competitive spirit who enjoyed Bowling, Horseshoes, and many other sports. He loved camping and was a member of Aurora Gatekeepers. He was a member of the Senior Center and enjoyed playing cards with his friends. He was very generous with his time and resources and was always quick to help anyone in trouble.
More importantly we will remember Ed as our Beloved Husband, Farther, Brother, Grandfather, Uncle and Friend. He touched so many lives and will be greatly missed.
Ed leaves behind his wife Janice (Newbury) Burdick, his children Kathe Hughes, Vicki Winters, Ed Burdick Jr, John (Babette) Burdick, Kevin Burdick, Joseph J Burdick, L.T. (Daphne) Burdick, Joseph A. Burdick, Jennifer (Dave) Trusty, and Lynn (Danny) Penney, Sister Doris (Burdick) Jewell and sister in law Sharon (Clay) Crowner. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren numerous nieces and nephews as well as hundreds of extended family and friends, and his beloved pets Daisy Mae and Pearl. Ed Sr. was preceded in death by his 3 brothers and 2 sisters, children Iris Massin, David Burdick, Joyce-Lynn Burdick, Scott Burdick and Rodney Bradenburg.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 29, 2017 with funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM at Martin Mortuary. Committal services will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to your local or Salvation Army, 1235 North 4th Street, Grand Junction, Colorado, 81501 or Senior Center in his name.
