

Born in Leadville to Hjalmar and Edith Anderson, she grew up there with her sister Eleanor and brother Bernard. After high school, she attended Western State College, receiving her BS in Education. There, she met and married Charles Hughes and they settled in Cedaredge.
Enis was a teacher at Delta High School, teaching Social Studies and History and sponsoring extracurricular activities like the Model U.N. program. Enis inspired her students and many of them became teachers themselves.
Enis belonged of the United Methodist Church in Cedaredge where she was the choir director and worked in the church administration office. She was a member of the Rebecca’s Lodge in Cedaredge.
Enis is survived by her children; Eric (Debbie) Hughes, Visalia, CA, Carl (Debbie) Hughes, Grand Junction, Laurie (Jerry) Noe, Grand Junction, Joy Hughes of Visalia, CA, 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, her husband and her infant son, Paul.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to HopeWest Hospice, 3090B N. 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
