Esther Walton
November 28, 1922 - March 19, 2014
Esther Walton died peacefully on March 19, 2014, at the age of 91, surrounded by family. She lived a full life, leaving a legacy of four children, nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Esther was born on November 28, 1922, in Reamsville, KS. She married Lloyd Walton on July 31, 1940, in Oberlin, KS. They moved to Nebraska a few months later and raised their four children there until they moved to Grand Junction in 1958.
She is survived by her children, Pat Thomason, Len Walton, Karen Stewart, and Terry Walton. She is the eldest of four siblings and is survived by two sisters, Thelma Millard and Estella Kautz.
She lived in Grand Junction for most of her life and stayed busy with her family, regularly traveling to visit relatives in several different states. She helped anyone in need, and kept in touch with regular letters updating them on the events of her life but mostly asking them about theirs.
She enjoyed sewing clothes, quilts and pillows. She was a good cook and great baker. We will miss her delicious mouse-ear pancakes, cooked on her cast-iron griddle, and unbeatable by anyone on this planet.
We are all grateful for the time we had with her, and we will miss her.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, March 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene.
