Ethel was born on December 30, 1935 in Rifle, Colorado, to Steven and Orilla (Lyman) Mercer. She spent her childhood in Fruita, and attended high school there. In later years she obtained her GED. Ethel married Glenn E. Wyckoff on August 16, 1953, and they would spend the next 65 years together. Throughout their marriage they lived in Clifton and Glenwood Springs; before settling in Fruita where Ethel spent the last 18 years of her life. Sadly, Glenn passed away in December of 2018.
In her free time, Ethel enjoyed sewing and making beautiful stained glass art. But more than anything, she loved getting together and visiting with family.
Ethel is survived by her sons, Richard (Cheryl Sos) of New Castle, and Dennis (Patty) of Fruita; brother, George (Mary) Mercer of Grants, New Mexico; three grandsons, Kevin (Cassie) Wyckoff of University City, Washington, Ryan (Trista) Wyckoff of Grand Junction, and Mike (Nicole) Wyckoff of Loma; and three great-grandchildren, Arista Pearl Wyckoff, Kensley Walz, Miranda Nicole Wyckoff, and another great-grandchild on the way. She is preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; son, Darrell Wyckoff; and many brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held Friday, February 28th at 1 pm at Martin Mortuary in Grand Junction, with a committal service to follow at Grand Junction Memorial Gardens.
