

Eugenia Louise Deister, 91, passed away May 24, 2018, in Kingwood, Texas. She was born on August 14, 1926, to Grover and Agnes Montgomery in Turlock, California. Eugenia was raised in Turlock, Sonoma, and Modesto, California, and graduated from Sonoma High School.
At age 19, she married William Deister. Over the next 17 years, they lived in numerous places, including Illinois, Texas, California, Maryland, Hawaii, and Louisiana, as he pursued his career in the U.S. Navy. After William retired from the Navy in 1962, they settled in Colorado for many years and eventually moved to Kingwood, Texas in 2009. Eugenia spent most of her life as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She was fabulous seamstress and loved traveling, golfing, crocheting, embroidery, quilting, and making greeting cards for all occasions.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, having been baptized in 1948.
Eugenia is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years William Robert Deister, her parents Grover and Agnes Montgomery and by her siblings Bert Montgomery and wife Willie, Reg Montgomery and wife Nadine, and Ruth Alice Livingston and husband Jack.
She is survived by her sons Robert Eugene Deister and wife Rickie and Thomas Michael Deister and wife Kathy; grandchildren, Aaron Deister and wife Cindy, Cori Rassinier and husband Nick, Cassandra Sidanycz and husband John, Andrew Deister and wife Beri, Rebekah Trice and husband Matt; and her great grandchildren Collin Deister and wife Megan, Cade Deister; Bryce, Bronson, Barret and Brock Rassinier; Caleb and Avery Sidanycz; and Honor and Ethan Deister.
She is also survived by her brother-in-law Clifford Deister and numerous nephews and nieces.
The funeral for Genie Deister was held Tuesday, May 29th at 2:00 p.m. at the Lake Houston Church of Christ, 8003 Farmingham Rd., in Atascocita, TX. A graveside service will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grand Junction, CO, on Tuesday, June 5th at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the Deister family has asked that donations in Genie's memory be made to the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort (www.disasterreliefeffort.org).
