

Frances was born on May 7, 1919 in San Jose, California from the union of John O. and Mollie M. Mudgett. She spent her childhood in the San Jose area and after High School she opened her own Beauty Salon at the age of nineteen and later became a Certified Dental Assistant.
She married LeRoy Tatom on February 23, 1941 in San Jose and two children were born from this marriage. LeRoy preceded her in death on April 14, 1965 in San Jose.
Frances lived in the Grand Junction area since 2000, moving from Ontario, California and previously lived in Utah and Oklahoma. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Grand Junction and was a member of the Eastern Star in three states. She was a former 4-H Leader for Santa Clara County California and loved working with children. In later years she volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital and R.S.V.P. for many years. Always a leader she enjoyed being involved and active in business meetings.
Frances was known to family and friends as a spunky people person who never met a stranger and always had a smile and kind word for everyone. Friends and family remember her variety of hats, and Frances enjoyed wearing each and every one. She loved life and valued her family, friendships and loved the American way of life. Frances was proud to have been born the year before Congress passed the 19th amendment giving women the right to vote, she exercised her right to vote every year.
Frances leaves behind a son; Wayne (Cindy) Tatom of Macomb, Oklahoma, a daughter; Yvonne (Jerry) Cain of Grand Junction, Colorado, four grandchildren; Heather (Patrick) Carter of Murrieta, California, Robbie Lyn Tatom, Wayne (Kellie) Tatom II and Dusty Lee Tatom all of Oklahoma, and great-grandchildren; Coltin Wilkinson of Utah, Hannah and Logan Carter of California and Dillion and Madi Tatom of Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers; Everett and Vern Mudgett.
No formal services are planned but Frances will be placed with her husband LeRoy at the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, California.
