Garrett Allen Abbott

Garrett was born September 5, 2003 in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was the fourth of five children, and the quiet one of the bunch. Because of this quiet, calm demeanor, he was able to be the ultimate practical joker without getting caught.

After graduating high school in 2022, Garrett received an apprenticeship at Wagner Caterpillar in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was working on completing his Associates degree in Diesel Mechanics at CMU Tech, as well as completing training at the Wagner Institute in Aurora Colorado at the time of his death. He was so excited about the career he had chosen and loved showing us videos and pictures of equipment that he worked on.

In addition to working on equipment at Wagner, Garrett loved fishing, hunting, collecting project vehicles that need a ton of work, and 3D printing. He was a deep thinker, exceptionally smart, very introspective and inquisitive and had amazing mechanical aptitude.

Garrett is survived by his parents Jason and Risha, siblings Austin (Cherith), Raeleigh, Jerah and Colton, grandparents Dave and Marlene, cousin/best friend Rory as well as tons of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. His kind and gentle nature will be missed by us all, but especially by his little cousins who gravitated to him.

Garrett is preceded in death by his grandparents Rich and Costa Bourg and by his little cousin Jacinda.

Funeral service will be Saturday November 15, 2025, 1:00 at Stillwater Cowboy Church, 968 19 Road, Fruita, Colorado 81521
