3-23-1925 to 4-20-2022
Words cannot begin to describe the beauty that came into the world on 3-23-1925. Helen survived and persevered through the most challenging of times which molded her into the strong woman she was. She had a strong belief in God and taught her children to honor and respect the Lord.
Helen loved her “babies”, she kept an immaculately clean home; she was an accomplished cook and her children would often come home from school welcomed by the aroma of freshly baked goodies. She valued education and learning, and she became licensed real estate broker. She was an avid reader. She had a passion for fashion, decorating, and following the stock market daily. She enjoyed playing bridge, pitch and other card games or games that had anything to do with numbers.
We will always remember her “Hellenism’s” - on any beautiful day, whether it was snowing or a bright spring day, she would say: “Stop the clock”. Growing up in poverty as she did, if she thought of purchasing something that may not be necessary she would tell herself and us: “I have to justify that…”.
One never forgets their mother or their father. For the six of us, we were so very blessed to have two of the most wonderful human beings as our parents. We know we were graced with them by a very merciful and loving heavenly Father.
When you see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, a beautiful snow storm, or encounter something beautiful in nature, remember Helen, enjoy the moment and thank God for it.
In loving memory of our beautiful mother, Helen J. Christensen.
In Lieu of flowers, Donations may be made in Helen's name to HopeWest Hospice and Palliative care; and the Grand Junction Catholic Outreach Day Center.
