Howard's surviving immediate family members are his wife Diane, daughter's Lynne (Patrick) Moriarity, and Debora Revie, granddaughters Jennifer Neese and Jacquelyn Simms, and great grandchildren Tucker John Simms and Emily Grace Simms. He was a lifelong dog lover, which included his dogs, Brownie, Lady, Snuggles, and Zeus whom he considered family.
Howard served in the United States Air Force for 20 years. He was a B-29 crew member completing 39 missions during the Korean War, and served in many capacities until his honorable discharge in May 1970. Howard worked in nuclear energy followed by his work in the private sector as a corporate internal investigator.
Upon his marriage to Diane, Howard actively supported her studio, The Institute of Dancing Arts. He was integral part of the Studio and enjoyed helping the students, parents, and Diane in countless ways. A studio-parent recently said "Howard was as much a part of the studio as Diane". She further stated "I have nothing but wonderful memories of him. He was the kind of support that everyone hopes to have in their life". Amen.
A memorial service will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, Grand Junction, CO on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 4:00pm. He will be buried at a later date in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.
