James Edward Thayer, 83, passed away at home on May 16, 2017. He was born to Flossie and Lee Thayer on July 20, 1933, in Manzanola, CO.

James has been a resident of Grand Junction, Colorado, for 65 years. He previously living in Lake George, Edwards, and Dotsero. James graduated from Eagle High School. He married Ruth in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 22, 1971. His career was spent as a master communication installation technician. He also belonged to the Elks Club and was a life Member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of nearly 46 years, Ruth. He is survived by sons, Carl Joseph Thayer of Mesa, CO, and Scott James Thayer of Grand Junction; daughter, Virginia Mensik of Bristol, Texas; sisters, Elsie Martinez of Tray, CA, and Heather Shelton of Zion, Illinois; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
