Jerry Golden
October 11, 1946 - March 19, 2014
Jerry passed away in Hospice care at the VA, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Koshkonong, Missouri to Loynes Golden and Lucille Day, he spent the majority of childhood in Slater and Delta, Colorado accompanied by brother, Kenneth and sister, Kay. Fresh out of high school, Jerry joined the Army and served his country for three years, spending one tour in Vietnam. The majority of Jerry's work career was spent in sales for the oil industry.
Jerry's passions included: reading, hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors as well as completing 'do it yourself' projects. Both loving and compassionate, Jerry was a man who always put others' needs above his own.
He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Dorothy; daughter, Brenda (Chip); son, Jerry (Kim); brother, Kenneth; three grandchildren, Joanie, Chase and MaKenna, and beloved dog, LeRoy. Jerry is preceded in death by his father, mother, and older sister.
A celebration of Jerry's life will be held Friday, March 28, 2014, 1:00 p.m. at Callahan-Edfast. A military memorial service will follow promptly at the Veterans' Cemetery, 3:00 p.m.
Jerry's family would like to thank all who were involved in his care. A special thank you to Dr. John Severs, Candy and Joan at the Veterans' Hospital as well as all the doctors and nurses in the hospice care unit who provided such excellent care and made the last days so very comfortable.
