JoAnn Lacy (aka, JoAnna, Jo, Joie, Josie, Jody, Grammy, Mimi, Mom, Mommie and Mama) was born on September 30, 1934, to Sam and Erma Claiborne in McRae, Arkansas and passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, in Grand Junction, Colorado at the age of 91.
JoAnn is survived by her daughter Kelli, son-in-law Pete, son-in-law Dick, grandchildren: April, Chris, Andy, Anna, Sundi and Brett, great grandchildren: Summer, Bradley, Lacie, Matt, Savannah, Brayden, Torin, Kammi, Ethan, Rylie, Lucie, Charlie, and Gracie, nephews Tom and Brad and nieces Barbara and Dori. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Erma, her husband of 64 years Al, sisters Wilma, Beatrice and Linda, daughter Connie and son Jeff.
JoAnn loved to ice skate as a child, read, paint, latch-hook rugs and write novels with her husband, but her greatest passion was to spend time in prayer.
Throughout most of her adult life, JoAnn would volunteer at doctor offices and hospitals helping in whatever capacity she could.
JoAnn cherished her heritage of being part Cherokee Indian which was made very evident whenever the Redskins played the Cowboys (one of her husband’s favorite teams). They both would holler, cheer, jump up and down and beat the floor for their respective team! It was quite the sight.
Most of all, she loved her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ with her whole heart and this translated in her love for her family, church family and friends. For this, she will be greatly missed.
Now she has gone to her Long Home because at the age of 7, she put her faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. Her prayer and hope would be that if you do not know that you would go to Heaven when you die, that you would put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ today!
