Jo Ann Williams

Jo Ann was born on September 30, 1939 in Washington, DC, from the union of Bernard and Helen Purcell. Her father faded from her life beyond the age of nine. She did however, consider her stepfather, Grand Daddy George Whitehurst as her father.

She spent her childhood in Washington DC and Havelock, NC. while her stepfather was in the Marines. She graduated from Havelock High School in 1957. She married Paul Scotty Dolinger in September of 1960 and resided in the Baltimore area for twenty-six years to raise her children. They later divorced. She had also previously lived in Frederick, Maryland.

She later married Anthony J. Dibitonto and they divorced in 2005 and he preceded her in death on January 2021. She later married Royal B. Williams in 2018 in Delta, CO, he survives.

Jo Ann graduated from the St. Joseph’s Nursing School, Towson, Maryland in 1960. She was a devoted and caring nurse for forty-seven years. Her career started in maternity and then working with hospice and many years later as a Public Health Nurse.

She loved her animals and always had many cats and dogs. She loved to shop, travel and loved visiting the ocean beaches. She loved her grandchildren and extended family immensely. She had many cherished friends!

Jo Ann leaves behind her husband, Royal B. Williams of Fruita, CO, Step-children, Todd (Pam) Williams, Lisa Williams, Tami (Tim) Moore, eleven step grandchildren. A son, Jeffrey M. Dolinger and his wife Sandra, a daughter, Ellen Dolinger-Rollins and her husband David “Grady”, a daughter-in-law, Gerrie Dolinger, a sister, Kathy Whitehurst Sissons and her husband Ken, a niece Emily and Nephew Steven.

She also leaves behind two great nieces, two great nephews, five grandchildren, Nicholas, Kaiya, Ian, Kristen, Monica, two great grandchildren, Claire and Jack to cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her son, Joel Dolinger in October 2012.

A committal service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado, 2830 Riverside Pkwy, Grand Junction, CO 81501.
